In order to best meet the academic needs of St. Joseph High School students, the school offers three diploma programs: University Preparatory with Honors, University Preparatory, and High School Diploma in association with a personalized Student Team Education Plan (STEP). A Certificate of Attendance is available to students who are unable to meet the graduation requirements due to cognitive limitations.
Graduation requirements reflect the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ requirements and recommendations as well as those of the University of California and the California State University systems.
As students progress through the curriculum, they follow a logical departmental progression both in content and skill. Courses are not restricted by the diploma program as long as the prerequisites are met. Advanced Placement, Honors, and dual enrollment courses with Allan Hancock Community College provide an opportunity for students to take college-level courses and receive college credit.
Online courses through Acellus, BYU, and UC SCOUT provide our students with the opportunity to sample a variety of classes, explore potential major courses and execute remediation courses.
The St. Joseph High School curriculum is flexible and allows students to achieve academic success in a variety of ways to meet the school’s expectations and their own.
