Position Summary

St. Joseph High School is seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and faith-centered leader to serve as the Varsity Softball Head Coach. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the softball program while promoting academic excellence, sportsmanship, character development, and competitive success consistent with the mission and values of St. Joseph High School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the varsity softball program.
  • Plan and conduct practices, workouts, and team activities.
  • Develop student-athletes both on and off the field.
  • Foster a positive, disciplined, and competitive team culture.
  • Promote sportsmanship, integrity, and respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and the school community.
  • Coordinate with assistant coaches and oversee program development at all levels.
  • Maintain compliance with all CIF, league, Archdiocesan, and school policies.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, administration, and athletic department staff.
  • Assist with offseason player development and program growth.
  • Support the school’s mission of educating the whole person in a Catholic environment.
  • Attend coaches meetings, preseason meetings, and other athletic department functions as required.

Qualifications

  • Previous coaching and/or playing experience in softball.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes and families.
  • Commitment to the educational mission and values of St. Joseph High School.
  • Knowledge of CIF rules and regulations preferred.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks, certifications, and Archdiocesan training requirements prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Head coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or club level.
  • Experience developing successful softball programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring and leadership development.

Compensation

  • Stipend commensurate with experience and school coaching salary schedule.
